Working at Sharjah American International School School was a taxing year, to say the least. Upon arrival in Dubai, a colleague and I were soon dropped off in the middle of nowhere....

Sharjah is the location of the school. Amongst the sand dunes and wild goats was a housing complex for teachers, appropriately called "The Compound." The apartments provided for teachers at Sharjah American International School were large and spacious, with helpful janitors who sometimes asked for money to perform duties which should be covered by the school....

Utilities and roundtrip tickets are covered by the school, as well as a sub-par insurance plan which does not include dental, eye, or maternity....
