Qatar is what you make it. You really have to get out there and make an effort to meet people and do things otherwise you will end up very lonely. It's not the most exciting life. Most of the activities and based around the hotels, including brunch, drinking, exercise, sunbathing and shows, etc. There is a diving club and a choir and there are also many social groups you can join, such as Brits in Doha and Doha Mums. You need to make an effort to join them ASAP. Qatar is a good place for couples but not so great for singles.
