 The curriculum is geared towards Math, English and Science. There is very little time left for students after Math and English so the students are very bored and become unmotivated (although they are for the most part great kids). If you are a PE, Social/History, Music, Art specialist, this system is not for you as these subject areas take a back seat to everything else that is going on and your time will be the first thing taken if it is needed somewhere else. The Regional Director is very supportive and will do what he can to help teachers out. The in-school administration are all nice people, but are not very creative when it comes to solving problems. They often lose sight of the well being of staff and students and become hyper-focused on the system.

The school provides furnished housing on campus. Apartments are 2 bedroom, two bathroom and are a little small, but very comfortable. Many people that decide to stay eventually get an apartment off campus as you can find places cheap and it gives you some separation from school. Cairo is a crazy city to live in. The traffic is insane, it is dirty, and there is chaos everywhere. Wherever you go as a foreigner you are a novelty and will draw a lot of attention. That being said, things get done eventually and there seems to be a flow to the chaos once you've been here a while. Egyptian people for the most part are friendly and want you to feel comfortable in their country. The society is structured in a way that men have all the power. For a women it can be an uncomfortable situation, not that you are in danger, but that you draw a lot of unwanted attention. People look at you make comments, yet don't take your opinion seriously.
