Comments: The
campuses (three for such a small school!) are nice from a distance,
but a close up study of the two older ones (the third just opened in August
2009) reveals lots of equipment that doesn’t work and facilities
that are clean on the surface, but which are poorly maintained....
In
the spring parents came for a “learning comes alive” day
at Shekou
International School, and
after their comments on the state of the buildings, things suddenly began
to
be repaired. This was soon forgotten and a few weeks later, things were
once again looking....
There are a lot of meetings at Shekou
International School,
as in most schools, and lots of initiatives that are put into place, but nothing
is completed thoroughly. Shekou
International School is
very quick to adopt new ideas and new methods, but in name only....
It
is the same as repairs to the buildings—the work would never be done
for the sake of keeping the place in good working order for students
and staff--it is only done to project an image to parents and community....
