There are countless supplies and unlimited photocopying privileges at Metropolitan School of Panama. Every class has a smartboard, LCD projector and proper desks, chairs, cupboards, etc. My problem at Metropolitan School of Panama is with administration.....Being contracted to June, I said I want to be contracted again next year to teach at Metropolitan School of Panama. I was asked to come to the principal's office two weeks before Christmas. I was informed that because of two small incidents involving students - telling one to stop acting like a kindergarten student, they are in grade 3; and another to quit bouncing the soccer ball in the cafeteria 'what the heck', I was told this is not professional. I have since asked fellow teachers at Metropolitan School of Panama if they have every said this to students - resounding yes from every one. So why am I being targeted? I wrote a letter outlining all the professional duties I performed daily, weekly, monthly at Metropolitan School of Panama. According to management, I do not fit latino culture, that some teachers had complained about me, but were not willing to tell me what I had done wrong. I asked various teachers what it meant to fit into latino culture and they had no idea what that meant. They also found it funny coming from an American Director!!! I have 6 months to go at Metropolitan School of Panama under this cloud of gossip, heresay, and evidence they won't share with me. I find this to be highly unprofessional and I want teachers applying to know what I am going through. The admin has not even visited my class at Metropolitan School of Panama..... |
