Maple Leaf International School is a new Canadian-Chinese joint
venture. The majority of students (approx. 1200) are from Mainland
there are approximately 50 Korean students. Students begin with
little or no English and are mainstreamed in grade 10. DMLIS follows
Columbia (Canada) curriculum. All teachers (except ESL) are B.C.

between Chinese and Canadian Staff. Chinese staff are treated with
little respect from the students. Sadly, they are held responsible
for all student
actions/misbehavior (i.e. broken desk, "teenage love," tardiness
during the flag-raising ceremony, etc.) which results in a deduction
from Chinese teachers'
wages (significantly less than a Canadian's), and sometimes

Given that some schools are strictly entrepreneurial, get-rich schemes
looking for the right face to complete the deception, you definitely
don't want to gamble your career on promises made by a school Director
who may not have your best interests in mind. Stay safe! Consult
