Comments: I feel that the school is having a bit of trouble with academics in the early grades at American School of Guatemala. The school is working on finding a literature program, but that may be years out. The staff is very supportive and works very well together. I have found the administration to be as helpful as possible while working within their means at American School of Guatemala. The director may appear to be harsh at times, but she is straight to the point and realistic. She does not sugar-coat things just to cause disappointment later.

I love the city. It has many wonderful restaurants. Walking on the streets is not unsafe, but not exactly comfortable. The exhaust from the busses and honks and whistles from the cars is not the best. The traffic is not so great, but the taxis are pretty cheap.

Housing is provided at American School of Guatemala and you can find wonderful places. The system did change this year so new teachers do need to....
