find....
Turkey
is unusual in that there are many private Turkish schools
(mainly in Istanbul) that hire foreign teachers and recruit
alongside many true international schools. If you are new
to the international teaching scene, you may get the feeling
you are being interviewed by an international school, but
you’re not. When you get to work at Eyuboglu
Schools you’ll quickly
realize that, other than the teachers, no one speaks English.
Not the secretary, not the copy-room guy, not the lady
at the reception desk. This will make it very difficult
for
you to get your bearings at Eyuboglu
Schools, difficult to get
the basics of your teaching life to work....
These
Turkish private schools are big business, and most of them
are run as such. Decisions are made for economic reasons
rather than educational ones at Eyuboglu
Schools.
For example, you are discouraged from criticizing a student to
the parents, or calling parents
if their child has misbehaved. Such actions may drive away
the “customers”. Families pay loads to....
