Comments:The
Dominican Republic on the whole is a nice place to live—although
it is expensive and crime is high. Carol Morgan School has attempted
to keep pace with prices and cost of living, but is lagging
behind. The school’s posted savings potential is above
what the average teacher is able to save.
Housing
is also variable at Carol
Morgan School.
Some teachers have housing that is adequate whereas others
are in situations that are below
the stated minimum school requirements for teacher housing.
New teachers coming to
Carol Morgan School will
be surprised to find that they are unable to go to....
Our
family spent nine years in the Dominican Republic and at
Carol Morgan School.
We saw families and singles come and go over that time
and
I'm not sure that there is
a "magic formula" for determining that the
country/school is better for families or singles. Some
families have thrived,
while others have struggled to adapt at Carol
Morgan School.
Similarly,
not all singles have found living in the Dominican Republic
easy. From a personal
perspective, we found life at
at
Carol Morgan School to
be tremendously rewarding. We made many great friends
(actually ran
into three
former CMS families at a resort in Thailand and all
of us had at least one child born in the Dominican Republic);
both our kids speak Spanish
and English; we had the
same fantastic nanny for nine years (child care is
very good in the Dominican Republic); but overall.....
