Living in RJ is a pleasant experience as the excellent climate, lovely beaches, and wide array of restaurants/shopping ensure there is something for all tastes. One can always find a doctor, dentist, or shopkeeper who speaks English.

British School of Rio Janeiro has three sites. Two are in `Zona Sul` which is the location of the well-known beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana and has a European flavour of architecture with numerous outdoor cafes. The other site is in `Barra de Tijuca` which is reminiscent of suburban Miami where many see owning a car as a necessity. Each district has its charms. Crime in RJ is an ongoing issue as it is in most major cities.
