There is much to explore that is close to American School of Bilbao or easily reachable by public transport; one rarely hears complaints about what to do on the weekend. There are many bars and restaurants where one can.....

The faculty at American School of Bilbao is divided into local host country nationals, American and British nationals who have married Spaniards, and overseas hire. They are not a cohesive group. They are organized as a union that is recognized by the Spanish government; this means that salaries are at American School of Bilbao are low if you are an overseas hire teacher. The benefits are awful at American School of Bilbao; they include only air travel, medical, and a small settling in allowance. Single colleagues could not afford to save a Euro; there is no shipping allowance at American School of Bilbao, no rental allowance and no retirement. I could only afford to be there because I had savings to fall back on....
