The economics of job hiring will not change for most folks. Just because a tiny minority with trailing spouses was hired by elite schools doesn't mean much to the vast majority. The admin will try every trick to increase their profit margin to brag to the school boards and say, 'See how good we get year after year." No matter what the mission/vision says on the glossy websites, the bottomline is cost-benefit ratio. All that talk about innovation/maker space is plain BS. What are you going to innovate when your kids don't have the basic skills of reading, writing, and math?

@marina

No it wouldnt.
An IS could do that and more and it wouldnt change anything. Where else would parents send their kids, a lower tier IS thats just going to be worse. Since they all do it and this practice is the status quo, there arent meaningful options. Most parents wouldnt be able toc are less what family demographics were as long as they see that there child is getting a good enough edu that ownership/leadership can claim its the best. Its not like the parents could go somewhere else and find better. They may find different, maybe even an IS that prioritizes this one aspect but its going to have greater deficiencies in less areas.

An IS in Indonesia had a pedo child rapist as an IT who was sentenced to a long and lengthy prison sentence, did nothing to reduce or decrease in any significant way revenue or enrollment at the IS

Maker spaces look good, they sell the IS and the programs. Reading, writing, and maths just looks like books on shelf.
