Teacher certificate renewal

Post by teller »

Many states require at least six credit hours for teacher certificate renewal. Can anyone out there recommend cost effective online programs that cater to international teachers who wish to obtain the college credits they need for renewal?

I was able to get credit through University of the Pacific in Stockton for developing teaching units based on my travels. You could choose how many credits you wanted, then fulfill the requirements for that number. This was a while ago so don't know if there is an opportunity to do it solely online. It was actually a really useful exercise that helped me produce well thought out units I could--and have --actually use.. It was through their Continuing Ed or Teacher Development department; sorry can't remember what it was called.

Have a look at this site - double-check of course that their credits will be recognized.

SUNY-Buffalo often gives credit for attending conferences. Usually it is a credit or two, but is pretty cheap. PBS offers really good classes that you can take for credit - with lots of college choices.

I have experience with the online courses from these two institutions and have been happy with them:

Have you considered a community college? They usually have very low tuitions online credit programs.
