Are there any American schools still filling posts in specialist areas? As a Choral Music teacher, the well seems to have run dry. I'm not registered with any of the agencies, so maybe I'm just missing out because I'm not at the fairs, but if anyone has any information on choral jobs out there, I'd love to hear from you. (If I sound desperate, I'm getting there! My main goal in leaving a great job this year (in the British system) was to get into an American school...and now my only prospects seem to be British curriculum schools.

agreed about needing an agency. I've tried to simply use JoyJobs this year, but they don't do a fair. Also using Carney Sandoe in the States and have actually gotten some interest there for a few private schools, but that's difficult as they want to actually SEE me and travelling from BKK to NY will be difficult (though I might be going for it as their Boston fair coincides with our half-term break).
I'm at the point now where I may end up staying in the British NC system (middle school), but with an IB HS. That being said, do you know anything about Doha Int'l Academy? There are mixed reviews (with an upward trend over the past few years) on ISR, so I may go for it if no good American jobs are left.

Agencies
You REALLY need to go with one of the three BIG agencies: Search, ISS, COIS. Since your looking at American Schools, Id recommend Search, the smaller agencies like Joy, TIE, etc are nice to supplement that, but you just cant rely on them. If your going to do this, you need to do it right, and make the investment in your future. When you do it half a$$ you get half a$$ results.
Im not that big on Doha, that being said in the region its a pretty good school (FOR THE REGION). That doesnt mean they are great, just that there isnt much better around.
