Unfortunately, my school is very much into the supernatural so we have a whole host of classes indoctrinating them in the ways of Jesus, Muhammad and the historical Buddha. 'Care' is another subject our school teaches twice a week, which is a personal/emotional development class.
To be fair religion must be taught by law in this country. You will find that most IB schools, along with the programme subjects have to follow local incountry requirements.

Yeah I've been rejected twice in as many months. It's hard.
One was a tier-two in Thailand, which during and after the Skype interview I knew I wasn't a good fit. The other a tier-one from Northern Europe, which I felt I was a good fit for.
Caught myself downloading iPad apps for maps/things to do as well as looking at flight costs to and from the locations, before I'd secured the positions... knew I shouldn't have, but I did.
My gf turns round to me and says, "Well at least you still have a job, many people nowadays don't" - and she's right.
Try and keep things in perspective and keep plugging away...

What's your goal in teaching?
If you are in it for the immediate financial rewards then it's China, if it's long term rewards and probable money over time then I'd go for the IB.
I'm in a similar position, although haven't been offered a post yet. Had my first interview with an International School of ... in the EU, with another planned for this week.
There is housing allowance, but no real savings potential. If offered the job I'll go with it. It's IB and I'm confident the money will come later with the more IB experience I have (two-years already).

Over the weekend I was discussing the dating scene with a single, caucasian, US, early-thirties, female teacher here in Jakarta.
She said her experiences since arriving here last year have been rather depressing.
Western men, if sufficiently drunk, may want her for sex but the only men who have shown interesting in 'dating' have been of South Asian/African origin.

I had to wait a few months. In retrospect I should have seen it as a warning sign for things to come - school is very lapse when it comes to paperwork, and leaves it until the last minute to organise exit permits, work permits and alike.
No worries, you have to say the lines a few times out loud, as in the film, to get the joke :)

If you want to finance a vehicle look at a down payment of at least 50% as a foreigner.
A number of vehicles are manufactured in Thailand, Honda for example, which helps to keep the high prices a little lower.
Many Thais drive pickup trucks, either 2 or 4 door, because they are cheaper, I think because of tax reasons, although not 100% sure.
