over 60
We just got back from Bangkok and there was some chat about age among us 50 and older crowd..I am not aware of what Germany may require but if you are with Search you can look the school up and see what it says on the data base info. It seems that it is all about getting the work visa before the age listed on Search...ie 59 right now and will not turn 60 until September you will probably be ok..I do know that Britain has a very low age limit and it is probably due to socialized health care.

Do I have a chance
Radishflower, we just got back from the Bangkok fair and managed to get some really good interviews with some top schools and we had no IB teaching experience and no international school experience. Seemed to be they looked very closely at the recommendations on Search as they often made comments about these.
It seems the schools with American in the name do not tend to be too concerned about IB. British schools of course are. We received 2 definite job offers and have accepted one of them You must know what you want and are willing to accept. Have a clear idea of this and stick to it. You will more than likely get an offer so you must not be tempted into taking a job that is not a good fit.
This happened to us and we are so glad we waited it out and got a good one!

Anyone know anything about ESF schools?
I was curious if ESF ever hires anyone from the US?
My husband and I are a good match for a couple of their positions but it appears to be British curriculum though only lists 50% of staff from the UK... We would really like to land in Hong Kong...
Thoughts anyone? Thanks again for all the support this forum has been to us!

Special Education Credentials
I am trying to cover all bases when applying for jobs. I am a masters level elementary teacher and have a national board certification. I also am a certified speech therapist. Do you think that I should also be applying for special education positions?
I do not have the actual special ed teaching credential but I have taught in the regular classroom and been a speech therapist with special education students. I also have loads of ESL experience. My husband is a computer technology teacher so we are applying as a couple and it seems we are going to have difficulty matching up with a school that will have a position for both of us. I am looking for ways to expand our field a bit.
Please is there anyone out there that can ease my anxiety!!!
Thanks so much for this forum. It has been great and I hope this time next year I can offer helpful advice and pay back for some of the great info I have gleened from others.....

ICT/teachers demand
Thanks for you information. It is helpful to think about what the school is asking of you before the interviews start....
We have seen and responded to many postings for ICT jobs I quess my biggest question is are there enough people out there to fill them or is it more like teacher need in math and science?
Thanks again for your kind response.

I am about to start the PYP course online with IB.org. It actually looks more informative than the one my husband just finished with them. He took a course on MYP. The instructor barely logged on to see what they were doing and certainly was not very interested in actually teaching the course. That said he was able to pick up valuable infor from other students and has acquired some of the basics and can discuss MYP with others and has a working knowledge of the terminology. That's what I hope to get out of mine plus knowledge of how others are teaching the themes.

United Nations International school of Hanoi
I can't seem to find any reviews on this school but was wondering if anyone had any information and/or have taught at this school? How does it compare to other international schools in Vietnam and E. Asia?
Thank You!
Thank You!

We are very interested in UWC singapore...but are wondering if they hire teachers from the US? It appears that they attend only the Sydney search fair and looking at their web site it does not appear that there are US teachers on staff..Does anyone have any info on this school? We really like the philosophy and are familiar with the World College in New Mexico.
Thank you for all the great info.on this forum. It has been so helpful.

Just wondering
Does anyone have any information on why there are so many openings at Shanghai American School this year? Is there a great deal of growth perhaps? Looking on TIE online many openings are still listed in almost every grade and at every level.
