Hello. I received a job offer over the weekend. I would need to have my response to the school by Tuesday. My question is; I have an interview lined up with a school on Thursday. Would it be WAY out of line to ask the second school to move up the interview?

I'm NOT an expert, but my feeling is that you should at least ask. If they really want you, give them the option to move faster. If they decline, then you probably aren't that high on their list.

If it is moved up, then it would seem they would have to offer you the job on the spot to still meet the deadline of your first school. If you feel like they would, I'd go ahead and ask. Though, if they need another week to decide, it almost seems pointless. It never hurts to try. Better to have more than one option.

As mentioned earlier even if the second school moved up the interview it would require a nearly immediate offer, and while those do happen, its not likely. I would ask as its a good sign that they would be interested in you.

I would suggest accepting the first offer verbally, call them on the deadline day, and then just give some technical reasons for delaying signing the contract, you could buy yourself a week easy, which would put you at a time and place to have an offer from the second school.
