Hi all-

I am applying for my first overseas position for the 09-10 school year so I will probably hit y'all up a number of times for information.

Anyway....

Can anyone offer some insight on living in Muskat, Oman? I am very into the outdoors, the ocean, ect.... Would a 30 something single guy enjoy a few years there, or would one be bored to death?

Thanks in advance.

It is a very family oriented community. A lot of singles could make the drive up to UAE for the long weekends for the single's scene.

Great diving, camping in the mountains, turtles hatching on the beach...kind of stuff.

I have a young family now and would love to go back...

The thing is that if you are single and go to Muscat, you are likely to remain single - u wont meet the special someone there, in fact out side of your work circle you wont meet many people.

Outdoors can be really hot, Muscat is pleasant / bearable for about 5 months of the year. Unless you have a high tolerance for heat and humidity, it is not much fun.
