Mad Rush for Doctorate

Why is there such a mad rush for enrolling in a doctorate in education? Are all these folks going to become administrators? Wonder why so many want to leave the classroom.
Those that can do, those that cant teach, those that cant teach lead.
There are just more online/virtual doctorate programs that can be done by distance and part time.
Its not often discussed but a lot of leadership lost their jobs to the pandemic as well and and many that stayed took a salary cut. That was a lot of leadership with time on their hands.
