How long should the plenary be?

This might not be the right forum for the question but how long do teachers spend on their plenary?
A few teachers here say they spend as long as 10 to 15 minutes out of a 95 minute block on the plenary.

I always thought 5 minutes at the very most.

Five minutes usually for me, but it depends on the teacher/class.

It would depend what Ive taught for the day, if its been mostly direct teach on a short lesson, maybe a couple minutes. If its summarizing a studio experience (such as lab) maybe 10 minutes if its been a long unit and an exam coming up 15+ minutes.

Personally, I'd either do a 5 minute plenary at the end, or even split the lesson and do it as two 45 minute blocks - science or one of the performing arts subjects might do it differently.

I feel dumb asking this but what is a plenary? I'm guessing it's something we have a different name for the US.

Usually, in the UK the closing of the lesson. The summing up or a short activity to cement ideas and concepts and skills developed in the lesson so the students retain it.

Part of every SOW, which is yet another UK term.

@Teach1010

It's a UK term for the "bridging" or review at the end of the lesson you would do in the US.
