Boredom at Workplace
Boredom at Workplace
How do you handle boredom when you feel jaded and get tired of getting on a new bandwagon each year, especially when the administrators care very little?

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
In other words, smile and nod, pay lip service to whatever they are selling this year, do as little as possible towards it and then focus on the things you feel are important to your students and that you find rewarding.

Maybe it's time to look for a new posting. I know some teachers who thrive on settling in for a long haul in one school/country....others find that they get itchy feet after that 3-5 year mark. If you're feeling this way over time, maybe it's time to move on to another set of challenges in a new environment?

Ditch the band wagon and fly commercial? I absolutely could not agree more with @WT123, keep your head down, do the bobble head, put in the minimum, and then push it out of your mind and use the time and resources to explore what you can bring to improve yourself and your classroom. Otherwise do at your IS what you would do outside of IE. I always looked for a way to sneak off campus and hit up a corner shack or pub or even conbini, and have a couple mid day recreational beverage breaks, head back to campus, find a quite place not in my classroom and binge watch on my mobile, I'd keep some educational video on the mobile on a different player, in case anyone in leadership asked Id say the internet was better in this location and I was previewing some educational multi media content for class.
