HI,

I worked in Bermuda for over two years. The salary is more than enough for a single person, but you would be struggling to support a family (unless you were in administration). The cost of living is high, especially rent, but Bermuda is a really enjoyable experience!

Husband and I are currently teaching in Bermuda. The cost of living is exceptionally high. We clear 11,000 us a month and have enough to save get by etc. We live modestly. You will probably need about $5000 to pay expenses all in for the month and anything extra is your to save. They pay a premium because there is not a lot to do in the winter. Country beach is beautiful. Rent is $3300, hydro $500, groceries $800, $gas 220.

I teach in Bermuda as well, 8 year now! Pay is good taking home 6K a month but cost of living is very high. Rent: I have a 1 bed apartment with balcony over the sea 2.1K you can get cheaper but not much. Utilities 300 month. Groceries: everythings imported so its pricey. I agree with Neptune on prices.

Theres a good expat social life though, beer $7, 3 course dinner for two with wine at least $100. I have friends who are careful and they save each month (probaly a grand, 1K) but its easy to go out a lot and blow all that in bars (or is that just me! :D ). Small island though so you have your local bars and you see the same people a lot.

It is amazing here though, empty pink sandy beaches, amazing sunsets, low crime rate so balance quality of life with cost of living.

Hope that helps
