There are to date, still 35 schools looking for math teachers. And that includes some great schools: SAS, Concordia Shanghai, Am School Dubai, Am School Riyadh, Walworth Barbour, to name a few.

Is this due to plain coincidence or is there some common thread - economic, political - that is causing so many people to leave?

Am I correct to think this is odd?

Even top schools can turn toxic. All you need is one crazy admin.

A lot are looking for 2018, not 2017.

There is a slighlty higher number of ISs still looking for vacancies, its not really significant. I concur otherwise with @reisgio its more ISs posting known or expected vacancies earlier for 2018.
