Wondering what all of you think about what happens in January/February for those of us that do not have positions yet.

Some tier 1 schools still hire during this time, but majority of the jobs from second and third tier schools will be filled in this period.

All schools fill positions all the time. Sure, the better schools hire earlier, but not exclusively (though there are fewer of them and fewer positions at them). European laws mean people can often decide quite late, so lots may still open up there all spring. None of the major fairs has happened yet. LOTS will happen in the next few weeks.

You still have plenty of time to find a decent fit. There will be plenty of Tier 1s recruiting teachers in January.

Elite tier ISs largely recruit during early recruiting between November and January, for a lot of them the BKK fair in early January is just a meet and greet with their primary preference. Most elite tier, and many 1st tier ISs will complete the majority of their hiring by the end of the BKK fair. These are also the ISs with the fewest vacancies and lowest turnover.
The LON fair in mid January is mostly the IB and EU fair, for the upper tier ISs, these are the ISs that hire larger portions of foreign staff. The ASs that hire Americans, and the BSs that hire British.
The BOS fair at the end of January is mostly third tier (floater) ISs and some second and 1st tier ISs. The first tier ISs you see are usually ASs. SF in early February is the fair that starts the spiral of third tier ISs which really never ends.

What happens depends on what you make happen.

This I agree with to a large extent.

I would add my own clarification to @reisgio, its less about making things happen (though there are opportunities for that), and more being prepared for unconventional opportunities.

I agree with that as well.
Hallelujah! A thread in which I agree with Psy and reisgio!
