PTC Teacher Training Center
PTC Teacher Training Center
Does anyone have any experience taking any of the Teacher Training Center courses with the Principal's Training Center (PTC)? Are they valuable from a marketability standpoint? I'm currently teaching in the U.S. but I aspire to be an IT within in the next few years and I'm wondering if taking few of their summer courses and/or getting the TTC Certificate of International Teaching would make me stand out a little bit more as a teacher without any international teaching experience.

At the teacher level, the biggest thing you would take away from the TTC in my opinion, would be contacts, which may or may not be helpful. At the same time, to a lesser degree you would get an understanding of the differences between domestic education and schools and international education and schools.
Honestly, if you want to get into international education, the best thing to do is get out there and apply during recruiting season. To do that, start researching schools, ask questions on the ISR Members forum where they allow review type Q&As and make some decisions about which areas of the world you would and would not go to.
One of the main things is you also need to be realistic. If you are an amazing teacher, your students get amazing results in AP or IB courses, if you graduated from a "name brand" school like Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, etc you might be able to get into some top schools, depending on who else is recruiting out there. At the same time, there are some really good schools that are hidden gems that people automatically check off their list of possibilities.
In the end, good luck with your decisions!

The courses have very little utility, their International Teaching Certificate has no value. No amount of training equals any amount of experience. You would have stronger marketability with IB/AP training certificates compared to anything you would get from the PTC.
I disagree with @SJ, you would build a stronger network just going to a fair/recruiting event than the opportunities you would meet from the PTC.
