Last year I was invited to the SA Boston fair but cancelled days before when a family was diagnosed with a terminal illness. I'd like to start the process to get into IT again. Do you think that my late cancellation last year might affect my ability to get an invitation this year? Is it necessary to explain the details to my associate? I was planning to register again with SA but am wondering if I should go with ISS instead given that I cancelled last year and may have left a bad taste in my associate's mouth. Anyone have any insight or experience with this?

You'll never know until you try, eh? I'm sure people cancel all the time, and someone on the waiting list was no doubt thrilled to take your place. I wouldn't be too concerned, and I wouldn't give them a reason. An ill family member is often cited around here as a good way to break contract or get out of other obligations. It's almost too cliche (and sorry, I understand yours was legit).
