Same Pension plan.
Vice-Principals start at the top end of the teacher's scale.
Principals between $105-120 000 (check the infamous "Sunshine List").
Hope this helps!!

I was making over $100,000 as a classroom teacher. Pension plan was defined contribution, though.

Wow Shadowjack, where were you working? That sounds a little above a typical Cat. 4

What are the taxes like? How much are you able to save per year?

No such thing as a cat 4 out west. If you are elementary, you could (not sure if you still can) start teaching after 4 years, but had to finish your fifth year during summers in the next 3 years.
Middle schools and secondary schools are cat 5 teachers only, unless you were grandfathered in. Those people are mostly gone, or will be gone through the system shortly.
Cat 6 was where I was at, in a snowy place far up north, but still with most of the modern conveniences. I liked it, but distant pastures beckoned us...

Oh - and the pension plan was defined contribution - most teachers plans are defined benefit, and are very nice...

Further. We drove through Dawson Creek on our way to family down south, though. I did teach in the Peace Country before our more northern northern soujourn though.
Is your wife a UVIC grad? If so, what year?

Nope, we both graduated from TWU and then she did SFU and I did UBC (though I'm from Ontario)
Thanks!!
PS You're getting up there if you're north of the Peace, its beautiful country

Yeah, I've been around. My first job saw me travel all over to very small, very remote communities that had you thinking, "Holy Sh**! People LIVE out here?" Students were not too bad though - but teaching was 50% instructing and 50% motivational coach to help the students realize they could succeed at learning (which most of them did, thank goodness!).
