If there is a school at the cambridge fair that isnt at the ISS fair, email those schools and ask if they would like to interview you. You might have to plan on a staying an extra day though, as the beggining of a fair a recruiter is busy, and at the end they just want to take a break and breath before flying out.

When you get to the hotel, you will get a folder and name tag. the first day is some presentations and seminars. Thats the day you will get little slips for interview requests. Thats a good thing. You sign up for schools you want to interview with, and then you get about a minute in their hotel room to pitch why you add value. I really LOVED flossymoe's description because its so accurate. I describe it as auditioning for a sleazy play and you have to do your time on the "casting couch". If your not the hard sell tye or you dont have anything that makes you special you are likely to not have a good time.

What i usually say to newbies at the fair, is "Most people walk away from the fair with something, if the are willing to accept anything". Some problems I see with you is that the middle east, africa, and china are where most new IS teachers start out, and youve eliminated those places. Europe isnt going to take you (well long shot). Second your basically two social studies teachers, which means a school needs two social studies vacancies to consider you. Thats not a very in demand subject and magnified by the fact that you need two identical vacancies. Getting certified in English/LA would make you more marketable.

You should find something then. Being an HOD would be valuable to a school if they were looking for a HOD or lead teacher. Being on committees means zero, its expected and assumed teachers have been on various committees.

Except at American Schools Basketball isnt really big, football (meaning soccer) is the "IT" sport.

Schools expecting a lot of hiring or with really hard areas to fill, often save a few primary positions for teaching couples/trailing spouses. Sometimes if a school really wants a teacher they will "create" a support position or offer substitution/tutoring work to a trailing spouse.

One thing you might consider is that having a 3 year old would qualify you for maternity leave still in parts of europe. At the very least they may be wondering about your childcare needs if both of you are working.
