What do you do when...

...you've been offered a contract job overseas, and have accepted it? This is not my situation yet, but what are the things that you need to have taken care of before jetting off and leaving your country (as in, Canada).

In my case, I would like to try it out only for a year or two first before fully committing to staying overseas or not. I guess I need to see first if it's a wise decision...or a poor one. Thank goodness I can take a max of 2 years leave of absence without risking to lose my Canadian teaching job!

Let's say that (for now) I am only planning on being gone 1-2 years...what would I need to do before leaving Canada? Any advice? I like to plan ahead, just in case...

Yeah, I guess it's too early to know...I'm hopefully going to be able to live and work in either Spain or Switzerland (the taxes in Germany are making me think twice about wanting to teach there).

I don't have my own house, and I would give my car to my parents if I were to leave the country.

I'm just wondering about paperwork and taxes and stuff...lol, maybe I shouldn't even worry about this now since it will be months before I will know if I can even make this happen, hehe.
