No reviews = good school?

Post by buffalofan »

There are several large, well-known and long established international schools that have no reviews on ISR. I think this is usually the sign of a good school, as the reviews on ISR are overwhelmingly negative. What do you think? I'd especially like to hear from those who have been in the international scene for a long time.

It's possible that they are good schools but I wouldn't count on it just based on the fact there are no reviews. Many of the top schools do have reviews on ISR and many of those reviews are mostly positive.

What schools are you enquiring about? May as well name names and see if anyone had 1st or 2nd hand experience/information about them.

How about Rome International School? There's no information on that whatsoever.

You can add to that:

American Overseas school of Rome
Woodstock School in Northern India

There are many other examples. I'm not really out hunting for specific info on specific schools. Just wondering if the 'no news is good news' mantra usually holds true in these cases (for established schools that have been around for awhile - not startups). I was told at a job fair that I attended this recruiting season that this is generally the case.

Rome International School is not really an international school at all. The vast majority of students are wealthy Italians. The buildings and facilities are woeful.

Thanks for the info aussiechick.
But that can hardly be the reason why there aren't any reviews or forum comments of the school, since many reviewed international schools have 99% native students. And this one has been around since the 1980s.
(By the way, it seems they are moving into new facilities soon.)
