I'm new...advice???
I am new to considering international teaching and am planning on attending the Cambridge Search fair this coming weekend (if I get there with all the wonderful snow). I am hoping to find a middle school teaching job (preferably in science).
I have have been contacted/had interviews already with a few schools and I am wondering if anyone knows anything more about them. Most have gotten mixed reviews on ISR...how many of them are true and how many need to be taken with a grain of salt? Any help anyone can give me would so helpful!
International School of Beijing
Beijing City International School
Fundacion Colegio Americano de Quito
American International School of Johannesburg
American International School of Budapest

Thanks for your responses :)
Lisa: I appreciate any information you can give. Its good to hear that these schools at least have good reputations! Do you know what their particular strengths are?
Chuck: That is good to know about the security (its also what I was worried about), crime is my biggest concern about going to South Africa. I have read different places that this is still a huge problem...I'll need to find some more information out to be sure!
wistuco: I hope that your job fair experience goes well, even though South Africa won't be at UNI. I'm sure you could always contact the school directly to express you interest though you won't see them at a fair. :)

Hi ichiro!
Thanks so much for your response, it really helps to know that both ISBeijing and AISBudapest have a good reputation. As these are the schools, that I've already had a few phone interviews with before I head out to Cambridge tomorrow. I hadn't read the most glowing things about Budapest on ISR. I have liked what I have learned about them so far.
These message boards have been very helpful with advice for going to the fair and some additional information about schools (especially nice to see more information about the school in Quito). As a single teacher, I just want to know as much as possible before I commit to a school.
I have also been glad to see that there are a variety of middle school positions, and good to know that even though I don't have IB experience I can still be considered. :)

BCIS
If you get an offer from BCIS, take it. I am very close with someone that teaches there (and have coached there). Very solid school, good facilities and a package right up there with ISB. Beijing is great!

It's been awhile since I've posted. But I am so glad I went to the search fair in Boston last month! I am excited to have accepted my first international teaching job in China! I will say that the offer did come after the fair, when I had thought hope had been lost. Now I'm just going through the process of getting ready to go and finding all I can about China before I go :) Thanks again to everyone for the advice!

Congrats! What part of China? What school? I've been in Beijing since August and greatly enjoy living here.
