I just graduated and am a certified English teacher for middle/high school. I also have Tesl/Tesol certification and taught ESl adult students for half a year in Harlem, NY. I want to find my first job overseas but i am doing this alone, no fairs, no recruiting agency for me. I have been reading these forums, reading the classifieds for jobs abroad.. My questions now are these and i hope someone can help me with them:
1. I want to find a place where i will SAVE money, have free accommodations, and hopefully flight paid. What places/schools in Asia are more likely to offer this?
2. Am i likely to find a decent job with the certifications that i have?
3. Which schools should i be looking at right now and contacting?
4. What kind of salary is considered good and what should i look for?
5. What are the top ten/fifteen schools in Asia (package/living/etc)?
6. What steps should i take now to get hired?
If anyone can help me with these questions i would greatly appreciate it!

You can search the forum and blog for answers to many of the questions.
I think in general you will do better with International Schools or Universities than with language schools.
I would at minimum join this site to check reviews and TIE online for job postings and resume posting.
You should get insurance, annual flights and housing. You should also get some sort of shipping allowance and possibly settling in allowance but this can vary.
When you look at the package you need to ask what you what you can save per year. This is how you best can compare packages between different countries. Be cautious with being paid in local currency.
It is pretty late to get jobs, but as a single you may be able to slip into a last minute opening. I don't know how tight the job market is this year. If you only have student teaching and TESOL with adults some of the best schools may not consider you. You could probably easily get a job in a place like Kuwait or several places in Asia in lower tier schools to get your foot in the door.
