15 this year, 23 last year, hopefully next year less than 16.
Multi-age, strong EAL/ESL make up.
Have a co-teacher, not a TA.
Class size limits are elastic, determined primarily by financial constraints and parental tolerance.
School size, enrollment, location and school community often have a strong influence on class size limits. Directors can often 'squeeze in' an extra child or two, especially if its a small school and the applicants are big business or diplomatic.

Over the past few years, I've taught a class with 1 student (not fun, since he didn't want to be in school at all), and the largest (this year) with 20. I teach high school, and have never had (or heard of a school that has) a TA at this level. Also taught in the Chinese system (not international school) with classes anywhere from 40 to 60 students. I'd say check out the website of any school you're interested for policy on class cap. I think 20 is pretty common in Asia.
My intention is to see if my standards are too high.

I have taught super small classes and you are right they are boring.
Right now I am in a homogeneous school of nearly all local kids, parents have minimal to no English to support them, I have no assistant and 24 kids in my class. Oh and no ESL or special Ed support. It is not the best for me nor my kids as the only strong English speakers in the class.
I don´t think this is the best for the student. The parents aren´t getting thier moneys worth.
We have been overseas more than 10 years.
Thing seem to be changing a lot out there and I am hoping that my next school is more like my old one. I want to know if I am realistic.
