Hello. I was wondering how hard it might be for my wife to get a non-teaching job at an international school that I would be teaching at. She does not have a college degree. Could she still substitute teach? Usually in the U.S. one would need a degree. Or any other kind of position? Thought maybe if we put that out there it might make the whole not being a teaching couple more palatable to a prospective school. Thoughts?

It is possible. Schools need help and volunteers. Each school is different.
Did you search the forum for old postings? I think this has been asked before.

I did a search, and got nothing. At least not in the post title. It gets tedious to search, click a thread, try to go back and the search is gone and needs to be done again. Maybe the answers are embedded wtihin a thread whose titile does not indicate it. Maybe I'm just being lazy. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I appreciate the input. Thanks.

I think that if you wife is a native (or near native) English speaker there will be somethig for her to do.
She could help in the office, work in the Library, be an assistant, tutor at school or out, sub., or volunteer to start.
All the schools I have worked at (6) have been happy to have hardworking helpers that speak English. The level of responisbility will depend on her skills, comfort level, and what is needed.
The job may not be offered immediately, it maybe part-time, but if your spouse is friendly and helpful, they will find a place. If your specialty is in high demand the odds are even better.
One of the schools I worked in gave a couple in your situation only a 1 bedroom apt., since he was the only one working. The job may be local hire salary (low). Visa etc, was not a problem. Once your spouse has some school expereince it will no longer be much of a problem. Your spouse might want to look into getting a TEFL Certificate or volunteering at a local school in your area, Girl Scouts, Boys Girls Club, etc. If you are empty nesters and were active in your kids schools in the past, bring it up.
