On your resume do you list all positions from day 1 or do you start later?

I've been teaching for 23 years and have taught in 8 schools. Some of these schools were in the same school district so I just bunched those together. I listed my last three jobs, then under that, I just listed...1975-2000, Georgia Public School System. Details upon request. I have excellent letters of recommendation so I'm not too concerned with it. I've never had a problem getting a position.

Often I think you make a lot of sense Ichiro but here you really are stirriing the pot.

Not everyone wants to work in a 'top tier' school of 3000 students with 5 classes on a Grade level and full of over ambitious 'show ponies'. Sometimes the most 'valuable' teachers are those working in isolated places with minimal resources yet try to prepare their kids for the 21st century.

I agree your comment about only including your latest jobs, training and accomplishments. Are you sure about a 1 page resume?

My resume is two pages, and it has been that way for years due to the formatting that was drilled into my head early on in my job search. All the big school boards from my home area require two page resumes, and professional resume makers that I contacted also pointed me to the two page resume.

Two pages is the ideal length. One page might come across as too unprepared in the eyes of some employers whereas not many are ever likely to want to read more than two.

While it is advisable to go into far greater detail regarding your more recent positions (on a sliding scale approach if you want to consider it like that) try and also think of any things you did that were slightly off the norm.

If you have to look at 50+ CVs/resumes then anything to liven up proceedings helps. Heads seem to love extra-curriculur stuff or anything outside the norm of just teaching in the classroom. Maybe they hope to squeeze something extra out of you for nothing. :twisted:
