Teaching in Dubai?

Post by mcass »

I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I am living in Europe and the financial crisis has hit my family. We are thinking about locating to Dubai. I am an American elementary teacher with a lot of experience. I am teaching fifth grade right now at an american school but have had experience with second through fifth. I also have my masters. What american school in Dubai would you recommend? Is there one with a better package? I can only travel to a fair in London. I also have twin two year olds. My husband thinks he can find work there. We would like to live in Dubai for a couple of years to save money. Any advice or suggestions? I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman would be a better package. Dubai is expensive! Also, have you ever tried look into Asia? Countries like Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong pay more than the Middle East. Of course, you have country taxes to worry about but we get paid so well that the taxes don't mean much. I'm currently working in Tokyo, Japan. Before that, I was in Europe. I found that I spent more money and didn't save much in Europe at all. Before Europe, I was also in Tokyo, Japan.

Thank you for your reply. My husband is Spanish and has experience in marketing and consulting. He is interested in going somewhere where there are a lot of spanish companies. Also I am concerned about my girls and the overall safety. But will look into your advice. Thanks a lot.

I can understand about wanting to be in a city/country with a large contingent of Spanish companines.

But, I've lived and taught in Japan and now China and worried far more about my safety traveling through Europe then I ever have while actualy living in Asia (and even Egypt). AND still ended up getting my ATM card cloned in freaking Florence.
