I am considering going to Luanda International School in August and the contract sounds quite good. However I have heard the most damning things about the director(Ken Hilmann) and Principal (Eileen Baker), and am hoping someone who has worked with either of these two people can telol me if it is as bad as it seems.

Check out this website called Real Posts Reports. It provides information from those already living in whatever city one is researching. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING INTO if you are considering Angola not only with the school but also living conditions and costs in general. I have found this an invaluable website when researching and considering a move to another international location.

Yes. It is as bad as you've heard. Don't do it. You have read the reviews, right? Living in Luanda is interesting; not easy but a great experience. Wait until Ken and Eileen leave. Things should improve dramatically.

WILL NOT BE WORTH IT!

YES!!! It IS as bad as others say! It's WORSE than you could ever imagine! DON'T DO IT!!!

Why do you think they are still trying to recruit teachers as late as May 31?

Notice, I'm not leaving my name on this one, because it would not be healthy! And--I'm one of the former faculty who has not filled out a review on the school! And that's because I don't want to relive the emotions of the worst teaching experience of my life!

So-- DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!

Eileen Freely-Baker and Ken Hillmann are self serving, unprofessional people, they treat their staff with contempt and rule with threats of blacklisting and salaries not paid. They not at all interested in the school or the curriculum. Everything in the above email is true. Anyone that tells you differently was either a spy for them or unbalanced. You just have to check the reviews to see that they obviously resorted to writing their own reviews because no one was supporting them! Thank goodness I heard that they are leaving next year - so if you are interested in working in Luanda wait till then. [/b]

Does anyone have any updated knowledge about this school or area? The package seems decent but how is the school and living?
