Hi all,
My husband and I are teachers looking to focus our job search. We're bringing our two young children (1 and 4) with us so we're trying to decide which is most important in determining our quality of life:
the city,
the school,
the teaching assignment
We both have multiple certifications, so we could be flexible and work in positions that aren't our top choices if that helps us end up in a great place.
Any thoughts or experiences would be highly appreciated!
Most important? - city, school, or teaching assignment?

I think first and foremost, you have to be happy with your teaching assignment and school; after all, they are the raisons d'etre for being there, and a large chunk of your time will be tied up there. I, too, am certified in several areas.
That said, I started my latest seach by targeting particular countries, then researching the schools that most interested me. I've never taught at a "top tier school," whatever that is. and don't care about Americanized cities where shopping is the only thing to do. That further narrowed it down, and I've got a list of about 20 schools that appeal to me with positions I'd be happy in.
