Just paid my UNI fee and was given access to the openings list. The school and opening I'd been targeting is not on it.
However on the school's site, there are multiple openings that are listed.
Obviously either the UNI or the school's site is wrong.
Anyone have any experience at UNI with regard to accuracy of the vacancy list you're given access to prior to the fair? I'm wondering if school's submitted their UNI list a while ago and then don't update it often? The one school that I'm really interested in, and is still listed as going doesn't even have any vacancies. Right now it kind of seems that the list of schools 'attending', which you can access prior to paying your fee is much larger than the vacancy listing, which you only get once you're fees have been sent.
UNI Openings List
Hey there JISAlum,
Have you tried directly contacting that one school in which you're interested? Given your handle and frequent contributions to these message boards, I'm thinking you're aware that while the UNI fair is wonderful in many regards, some of the better schools register for it but don't pay it much attention unless their hiring needs are not filled at the earlier fairs.
Yes, the better schools do seem to gravitate to other fairs. I'm in a fairly narrow field- so the openings are few and far between. The school and position I 'm interested in are still listed as being open on the school site- and they were listed as attending UNI (which was somewhat surprising as well). Just surprised that the school is listed as coming, yet doesn't have any openings on the 'restricted' list. Somewhat frustrating...and I'm wondering if they intend on skipping UNI all together- maybe go to Search Cambridge.
With some of the positive reports from Bangkok recently it seemed like there were still jobs to be had. Having just sent in my $300 fees, don't want to blow another $450 or so on hotels & travel (and I realize that some have spent considerably more on their endeavors).

I have spent loads of time this month emailing schools of interest. What I have found is that the jobs list on the UNI site is often quite different from the jobs the school has listed in the SEARCH database, which in turn is often totally different from the listings the school places on its own website.
I guess we won't really know until day 1 of the UNI fair, which makes things all the more nervewracking. I have heard zip, zero, zilch from the schools I targeted at UNI as my top choices (about 10), but did get to arrange a couple of interviews with schools on my 'B' list. Spent $750 myself on the fee+flights+hotel, hope it pays off.
