Just looking at different schools, and noticed that many are accredited by different US based organisations. WASC, NEASC, MSA/CESS, etc.
Is there any difference between them ? Are some more progressive / traditional or is it just a Pepsi / Coke thing ?

Pepsi and Coke.
Lots of time by a school is put into getting certification for WASC and NEASC...I have done five 4 NEASC and 1 WASC.
Now, some will say that it is just given and some will wonder how there terrible school got certified...I agree with both opinions. NEASC and WASC has changed how they work with schools to get their accreditations, in some cases they look at there job as a supporter of schools at first, and if a school continues to have issues they look into revoking the accreditation. This is not how they did it in the past, but have recently begun looking at their role differently.
I think it is a plus for a school to have IB certification, or certification from CIS.
A red flag for me is if a school only has Cognia certification, they definitely don't have standards, don't make a school really present themselves and have found that a school with just this certification/accreditation is a not a good school.

Some schools will try to obtain a certain accreditations because they think it's the better one and having it will reflect their commitment to education to parents and other schools.
Sometimes a school will go for the easiest one, just so they can say they're a certified school.

But that doesn't mean that if a school has one of these that it's definitely a good school. It just makes it more likely than if they don't have any of them.
