Best schools in Dubai (and the Middle East in general)

Post by Noreenandsal »

Boy this site is enough to scare off even the most seasoned international school veterans!
My wife and I are looking to move to UAE/Saudi at the end of our current contract. We are both British teachers, just completing our third year in Egypt. We have a comfortable life here and are well paid, but are ready for a change.
Any constructive help and guidance would be greatly appreciated. We understand that the cost of living will greatly increase by moving to the Middle East and so are looking for a decent package, but not at the expense of working in a bad school.

Many thanks,

Stephen :)

I, too, am looking at the Middle East. An acquaintance at another school here gave me some good info about Abu Dhabi--ACS, yes, AISI, no. She taught at AISI and thought it poorly equipped (it's a proprietary school), and the housing not very good (singles have to share, a non-starter for me).

Best schools in Dubai:

Dubai College
JESS Arabian Ranches
Jumeirah College

In Abu Dhabi:

Al Khubairat

Just a tip - if you're thinking about Dubai, make sure you apply asap if you want to get into one of those top 3. they have big waiting lists and can be really tough to get into!

Hope that helps :)
