ISS-Managed School

Post by Spawnboy99 »

What does this actually mean? What are the benefits of working for a school that is managed by ISS? Apart from the professional growth and of course, the networking opportunities when considering a new job.

It means ISS manages the IS.
If you want an -, think of it like property management. You have a property you want to rent out (so that the rent you collect pays the mortgage on the property), but you cant do it because youre OS and you have your job and your personal and social life. So you contract with a property management company to handle the business and operations aspect. Its the same thing with ISS, they fill a layer between ownership and leadership. They hire the executive leadership, select the curriculum, provide training and hand over the academic and day to day operations to the ISs leadership. Meanwhile ISS does the business management aspects of just as a property management company would. They handle capital projects, marketing, advertising, the prep for accreditation, and other such tasks.

Youre an insider in the ISS world, much like, but not exactly as you would be in a chain ES/DS/IS. The family of ISS ISs are more like extended family you keep at arms length rather than immediate family. As an IT youre not really going to do any cross IS/site networking or other collaborative contact between ISs.
