Dependents

Post by mrwright »

I have a question. I keep reading about how schools want to hire teaching couples, and that single parents and even single teachers are at a disadvantage. I am married to a non-teaching spouse and we might have a baby in the near future. So that would be me and 2 dependants. How bad is that going to hurt my prospects? I know there are schools out there who would still be open to that senario, but will they be the bottom of the heap? I teach secondary social studies and by the time I apply I will have had 7 years teaching experience and a Masters degree. What does everyone think about my chances with this situation? Thank you.

Thanks ichiro. Sorry for the redundancy. I saw a few threads that were similar to my questions, but the details of the op were always a little different than mine, so I thought I would throw my particular situation out there and see if it stuck. But I appreciate you replying. Anyone else's comments would also be much appreciated. Thank you.
