Your husband definitely needs to get his teaching certification, it is very unlikely you would be hired on otherwise. You talk about having life skill counseling experience, you need to get some college counseling experience if you want to work in high schools or smaller schools that have only one or two counselors. In the high school I work in college counseling is 90% of their job.

I would contact University of Northern Iowa and Search Associates to see what they say. There are opportunities for all kinds of people it really depends if you are will ing to be very open or have your heart set on a particular type of school or locations.
