Interviewing process question

Post by Trix18 »

This might seem kind of silly, but this is my first go around and I am coming from a job where I was hired on the ride home from the interview, so I don't have a lot of experience with recruiting/interviewing for schools.

I have interviewed with the principals of two different schools, both of which are desirable to me.

Both school's principals want me to speak to the director of the school. One at SA Cambridge. One via Skype soon.

Is that the final step? Do principals generally recommend one candidate to the director or two or more?

I know that this must vary school to school, but any general insights would help. My experience has been that the principals hire because I have never worked somewhere with a director. TIA.

The principal doesnt have authority to hire you and the director (Executive Leadership), is the HOS and is the one with the authority to hire you and give you an actual offer and salary, comp determination. You will likely start off with an innocuous question like what inspired you to work overseas, you can ask them something like what has been their most rewarding experience living in X country, but the bulk of the conversation is making the offer, quoting the salary, reviewing the contract hours and duties for the assignment and the OSH benefits. You typically respond with you need X amount of time to consider and when they need a decision by.
