Schrole and ISS and Search files

Post by mamava »

My husband and I have used Search since we started teaching overseas and we've been happy enough with them. I'm seeing the Schrole/ISS merger and I'm wondering--when we decide to make a move and if we apply to a Schrole school, would they be able to access our information on Search? Would we need to switch over to ISS or does Schrole have its own system? Both of us have strong references from the places we've taught--it would seem strange to start a new file with ISS and not have access to those older references--or maybe they don't matter?

Schrole will be ISS 'lite', registering with ISS will get you Schrole as part of the package. Registering only with Schrole will not get you the full ISS experience, especially fairs/recruiting events. Schrole only will also only get you the Schrole ISs, you wont get full exposure. Schrole is value add for those registered with ISS.

Schrole will be integrated to ISS not SA, a SA IS will not have access to your Schrole profile.

Schrole and ISS will be integrated into one system, but IT and IS profiles will have separate tags that identify them as Schrole only or Schrole and ISS (there is no ISS only tag).

References age, so depending on their age they may not matter much and even if they did the IS would have to subscribe to both SA and ISS (and SA has gotten a lot more territorial) to see your references assuming you were registered with both.

Once again @Psyguy, you are both under-informed and incorrect. Don't let that stop you from giving your spurious advice though. You do you...

For those who prefer their information to be accurate, I received the below email from Schrole last week :

Dear XXXXX,

We're about to migrate to ISS-Schrole Advantage
In the next 24 hours we'll be turning off Schrole Connect and in the following few days, turning on ISS-Schrole Advantage. We'll be transferring most of your profile information to the new database automatically, however there are a few things we're going to have to do manually.
Here's a few tips for what to expect:

During migration
• The process begins by turning Schrole Connect off. If you'd like, you can log in to Connect and download existing documentation over the next 24 hours.
• We'll go offline for a few days while we check our data and test the deployment of the new system.
• Once we come back online it’s really important that you update your profile IMMEDIATELY so your account can be set to ACTIVE and recruiters can view your file. Most information will migrate from the old systems, but there are some new fields and updates needed. Your account will be PENDING until you make these changes and they run through our quality-assurance checks. We will send you an email notification when the system is open and ready for you to access.
• As soon as you receive that system notification, use the ISS-Schrole Advantage link provided to:
• Change your password
• Update and check your work history
• Update and check your personal information
• Check any open fields to make sure your profile is complete.
• You can also add more information, including uploading a photo.
• Enjoy being one of the valued candidates who has a complete profile ready for recruiters to view. Good luck on all those recruitment conversations!
OCTOBER (Start Job Hunting)
• More and more schools will become part of the ISS-Schrole Advantage system, so make sure your profile is up to date and ready to be viewed. If anything is missing, update it right away.
• Start exploring the new dashboards and looking at school profiles.
• Don’t forget to mark your calendar for upcoming ISS-Schrole Advantage recruitment fairs and iFairs®.
NOVEMBER (Peak Recruitment Season)
• Peak season is here--and you’ll be able to use ISS-Schrole Advantage to the fullest—Including being part of the recruitment fairs and iFairs®!
• We’ll be here along the way, as technology AND personalized service are central to what ISS-Schrole Advantage is about.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We are excited about ISS-Schrole Advantage - and are always here to help.
Happy job hunting!
The ISS-Schrole Advantage team"

There's nothing in there that suggests that there's any difference between ISS and Schrole candidates, and it's quite clear that as a Schrole candidate I get Fairs as part of the deal.

I am neither uninformed or incorrect. There is nothing in your lay person instructions that says the files are not separately tagged.
Neither Schrole nor ISS are going away, the ISS-Schrole Advantage platform is a collaboration, with both entities splitting the revenue 50% which is managed by a Schrole subsidy. Since one of the databases is going away (Schrole Connect) and both business entities remain, thats how you incorporate one system to another on a shared system with separate entities, by tagging data with identifiers that indicate various memberships. Its the same strategy used by Google with Gmail (your email is just a long file with tags indicating where messages begin and end, and how to organize it into folders, which arent really folders but tags that indicate membership into a particular "folder"). This collaboration is under a 5 year deal, which can be renewed but means it can also be non-renewed, if non-renewed the database needs to be segregated back into distinct data sets, without identifiers, there wouldnt be a machine way of sorting whose date is whose.

Of course your membership registration includes fairs, you are describing the ISS-Schrole Advantage product which is the premium product. However things change with new platforms and products and it wouldnt be surprising if you got fairs as part of the deal.

The current understanding going forward is there isnt going to be a lite option, Schrole will just cost more on par with ISS and will be ISS-Schrole Advantage
