Very American - the Director renamed it "The American International School" (marketing!!) but looks for US teachers. He event tried to cut the IB but parents rebelled. Still, low academic expectations. Best conditions for expats in Argentina, ok to work there - but when the currency devalued, he converted all expat salaries to US dollars and left local hires on pesos meaning a drop by 80% in relative salary. The resentment continues and a related issue is the "almost racism" against host country nationals - "our Argentines" type comments. Worth it - expect to be re-Americanised - and much improved since the Christian fascists set up their own school. A great country, great lifestyle, tons to see and do ...

Used to be around $2K / mth, tax free for Americans as outside the US and under $70K plus housing but the Director is Mr Money Man - his bennies go up while the budget is "brought under control" (hint hint)

I am considering applying for a job at the Lincoln School in Buenos Aires, Argentina, however, there is nothing written about the school on the review site of ISR. The only thing I can find is this old thread, which I will give a second life.

Although I am very interested in this part of the world, I have heard some negative things about the Director, Phil Joslin, through people who have known, worked, and interviewed with him. Adjectives like pompous, self-absorbed, unfriendly, patronizing, narcissistic, and even incompetent have been thrown around to describe this guy. Another friend was completely turned off to working at Lincoln after one conversation with him at a job fair. I certainly don't want to work at a school with a poor and/or difficult leader. Any opinions on the school or working for Joslin would be appreciated.
