What are your school's declaration dates for 2018-19?

Post by rjames19 »

A memo from our director came out last week saying that, as of this school year, the deadline for declaring intention for contract renewal (or not renewing) for the 2018-2019 school year is now 9 October. Those that declare by 15 September receive a bonus.

The justification for this new, early date is "...for teachers looking to move to another school, the global timeline is shifting much earlier in the school year."

Has anyone else's timeline shifted and, if so, to what dates?

The date for notice of intent has been moving earlier and earlier for years.

End of November. My previous two schools had a deadline of late February, which was great. If we didn't have a job by then, we just resigned for another year. This November thing is new for us and, as a family with kids, might keep us around longer, for fear of the unknown.

Ours is also early November...within the first week. It is stressful, especially when you're thinking of relocating a family, but I've been overseas for 10 years and I've never been at a school that didn't have a November date for notification. It sucks to basically leave yourself unemployed while you're looking for a job with so many variables!
