I heard of one IT who made a policy of not looking for a job until the last minute, every time he moved on. He waited until June or July, when schools get really desperate. When I heard this story he was teaching at an enviable tier 1 school in China.
Never underestimate the fear of starting a new school year and being a teacher short!

Not sure I could cope with the stress of that!

I suppose it depends on your tolerance level of stress a family is going to have more significant issues but for singles that are highly mobile its much less an issue. You can always head somewhere and teach in EE or substitute and its even less of an issue if your open to hardship locations. There are always ISs that are recruiting throughout the year.
