New Staff Induction days

Post by nalfc »

Being a newbie to the international scene I have no idea what to expect from my 2 day new staff induction day. Can anybody give me an idea please? I would REALLY appreciate it. Thanks

New Staff Induction days

I have been through a few. Typically they focus on school procedures and policies as well as curriculum and teacher responsibilities. There is usually a time that is also focused on some of the local customs and cultural norms, how to adjust to the new surroundings and where to find things etc. etc.

Some places you may need to get a local health check or deal with get banking set-ups.. Two days is rather short from what I've experienced and from what my friends have done.

My school ran a condensed training session for MYP for 2 days for new hires as they cant send everyone off for MYP training as well as DP training. but unless you are in a location that has no difficulties in living conditions or cultural expectations. i would expect a day or two on that as well. 2 days does seem short.
